Today's post is a sketch/color study for a sleeve I'm going to be doing in the near future. It's an idea I've been messing with I call sugar skulls. Basically just sweets with skull faces, hence the name. Will definitely post process pictures while the tattoo is being done.

2012 started on a Sunday making it the perfect year to weekly update my blog. So here's to 52 weeks of drawings, tattoos, and whatever else gets posted. Hopefully I post more than once a week, but if I only get around to once a week, I'll post everything worth posting from that week.

Here's the quick digital pencils I did for a show flier. Just something out of my own head. Was just told to do something comic booky(?) The rest of the flier will be set in comic style panels with the names of the bands and date/time, etc. Enjoy!

Chicago Comic Con Print Pencils

Working on some 11x17 prints for Chicago Comic Con which is approaching rather quickly. One of my favorite furries to draw is and always will be Liono. Half man, half cat, all sexy. Going out to ink it now and color later. Enjoy!

Tshirt Sketching

We got a tshirt printer at the tattoo shop and I've been playing in my head with some simple ideas that would look fun on a shirt. This is what I've been working on. Obviously in the early stages of penciling. Inking over the weekend hopefully and not sure if there will be color yet. Probably going to give a Bad Moon sneak peak this weekend to. Enjoy!

Really trying to get back into at least sketching everyday. Pokemon are nice and easy and don't take that long to draw, for me anyway. Hopefully I will be posting more often with things like this and hopefully will be ready for Wizard World come August. I loved the Tick and thought it was one of the best shows of the 90s and beyond. Could've lasted a lot longer I thought, but it had a good run. The live action show with Patrick Warburton was alright too.

I've decided to do some 90s drawings because there are so many great cartoons overshadowed by 80s cartoons right now. As much as I love 80s cartoons and think they're some of the best ever there's always gonna be a place in my heart for people like this guy...Freakazoid!

Hulk and Dalgleish

This Hulk was a warm up for some C2E2 prints. Hulk is the only person I'm sure about right now. Dalgleish is from Bad Moon a creator owned project of Barri Lang and I's. I'll post more on Bad Moon later on for those who don't know about it.

Here's a small dump of sketches from the sketchbook. My favorite of course being the bazooka girl. The bottom most sketch was for a tattoo, minus the viking. I do love that viking though. As the the fat bald guy...I don't know, just had to get him out of my head and onto the paper I guess.

Started sculpting tonight. Havent really ever sculpted. Took ceramics in highschool, but learned nothing at all. This is a very early stage but you can see it starting to come together. It's Skottie Young's version of Rhino from Spider-Man which can be seen in the background. Not much, but enjoy!

Sketches From the Weekend

These are just a few sketches I did over the weekend. This one I had a lot of fun doing. Really into big necks lately. lol. Probably because they are awesome. Very Humberto Ramos.

This is a preliminary sketch I started for a tattoo for a friend. Gene Simmons, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen (looks just like him), and Thin Lizzie.

This was a tattoo concept for someone with an empty upper arm. Will color eventually. Not sure if I will use markers or just do it digitally.

This was a layout for a larger piece. Decided on the leftmost Batman. Not that I didn't like the middle one, but compositionally the left one is the one.

So I've tried to make a few updates from my phone over last couple weeks, complete with pictures takin from my sketchbook, but they seem to have never made it to the internet. Finally have a brief minute to use the computer and instead of uploading something that I've done over the past few weeks I sketched up a little something new real quick. Just a sketch I'll continue to develope for my flash book I'm working on. Enjoy!

Here's the finalized Cheeks! designed Turtles. Inks are done, wasn't to sure about colors. So I went with a grey wash on white with benday style dots, but not quite. May recolor this one in the future. Very fun to draw. Enjoy!

If you ever wondered what something I draw looks like before you even know what it is, this is it. This will end up being the Hulk and the Thing but right now it's just a black guy with a blue arm and a red guy. Sat down not knowing what i was going to draw, but was definately in a Hulk mood. So from a quick loose sketch of the Hulk sitting down came this. Enjoy!

Bionic Commando

So after a busy week of not being able to draw I'm back at it. Only working one job this week and that's what makes it possible. I've been playing Bionic Commando on PS3 so I drew up some thumbnails and liked this one. So here's the finished sketch. I've also been planning my sketchbook which might debut at Comic Con or Wizard World...whatever is in Chicago in August.

Here's a drawing I did of Nosferatu eating a blood orange. I bought a 100% recycled sketchbook to draw this in and loved it. The colors really pop off of the brown paper and there is no tooth which is nice for a lot of things. This will be my first picture in my flash sketchbook I'll have on display at the tattoo shop

As promised here is a new YouTube video I sketched out last night. I'm working on the inks at the moment and they should be up later tonight along with colors? Colors are a maybe, probably just a grey wash with a few highlights. Anyway it's a six minute video of a sketch that took me about 20 minutes and it really shows some fun stuff with sketchbook pro. Rabid Wolverines

So I've been doing a lot of drawing whenever i get the chance lately. I only get a day and a half, sometimes two days, of free time. These are two little sketches I did that I really enjoyed for some reason. They were drawn in sketchbook pro, inked tradionally, the colored in photoshop. Or not colored depending on how you look at it. I drew Wolverines son out of costume because it seemed more fun, but then went ahead and made a new layer and went right over it and put him in costume. That's why there's two very similar pictures. So this past weekend was a very short, yet inspiring one. I was able to attend the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo on Sunday. I went into the convention with 3 intentions. Get inspired, buy Skottie Young's JUNK ONE, and either buy a dvd or book from Jason Seiler. Well I was easily inspired as there were many great artists there. I bought JUNK ONE and it is holdable inspiration definately worth picking up if Skottie Young is your style. Then I got to talk to Jason Seiler who is an amazing artist if you don't already know. I talked to him a good hour and let him flip through my sketchbook and bought his dvd. This was definately the highlight of the show for me. Anyway I walked away very inspired to draw and have been drawing every chance I've had ever since. I started this bi weekly blog with the intention of posting new art, well...bi weekly. I haven't scanned anything in yet seeing as I've been busy with 2 full time jobs, but friday or saturday I will have some art up for you to enjoy. So check back!
